Background Information

A need has been identified for greater development in health economics capacity as recruitment of fully trained health economists is challenging for all stakeholders in Canada's healthcare innovation space (industry, government, health care payers, academia). The Institute of Health Economics, in co-operation with the Department Chairs of the Universities of Alberta and Calgary, has devoted the Mazankowski Award to develop health economics capacity in Alberta.

The IHE Mazankowski Award is intended to help develop health economics capacity by encouraging students to explore opportunities in health economics. The intent of this award is to make students aware of the strong private employment opportunities in the field of health economics, as well as the excellent research career opportunities.
