Physicians as Stewards of Resources Summary Report
The Institute of Health Economics (IHE) together with the O’Brien Institute for Public Health (O’Brien Institute) held a policy forum on February 8th, 2016, entitled Physicians as Stewards of Resources: Roles, Responsibilities, and Remuneration to inform decision-making regarding the fiscal sustainability of theprovincial healthcare system, with a specific focus on physicians as stewards of healthcare resources. This forum was supported, financially and/or in kind, by Alberta Health and the Alberta Medical Association.
The purpose of this forum was to explore how changes to physician remuneration and the role of physicians as stewards of healthcare resources can meet Alberta’s healthcare goals, including sustainable growth in healthcare spending. Please note that this document represents a summary reflection of issues raised by participants and does not necessarily represent a consensus view of the participants or of the organizations involved.
