Secondary Use Health Data Platform
Alberta has one of the largest, most mature, detailed and comprehensive health system data depositories in Canada. Additionally, Alberta has the advantages of:
- a single, integrated health authority;
- Strategic Clinical Networks (SCNs), which serve as the engines of innovation within the health system;
- advanced and comprehensive health information systems and database assets; and
- world-leading clinical, methodological, and analytic expertise in universities and research centres.
Alberta is poised to become a leader in the utilization of secondary use health data to support a learning health system and constant quality improvement. The IHE is supporting the province to achieve its potential in this area through leadership for the Alberta Real World Evidence (RWE) Consortium, and through partnership with Alberta Health for the Secondary Use Data Access (SUDA) initiative.
