Updated Low Back Pain Guideline 3rd edition now available!

The Alberta Ambassador Guideline Adaptation Program Steering Committee is pleased to announce that the 3rd edition of the Toward Optimized Practice (TOP) Guideline Evidence-Informed Primary Care Management of Low Back Pain has now been posted on the TOP (http://www.topalbertadoctors.org/cpgs/?sid=65&cpg_cats=90) and IHE websites (http://www.ihe.ca/research-programs/hta/aagap/lbp). The new edition has also been added to the Canadian Medical Association Infobase (https://www.cma.ca/en/Pages/cpg-details.aspx?cpgId=16163&la_id=1).

The Alberta Ambassador Program, hosted by the Health Technology Assessment Unit of the IHE, is a knowledge translation strategy. The guideline was created for the Alberta context by a group of multidisciplinary clinicians and researchers in Alberta, based on the best available low back pain guidelines from Canada and around the world. Over the three editions of the guideline, the development and update process has involved numerous alliances and collaborations formed to refine, approve, endorse, promote, and/or disseminate the guidelines, including TOP, medical associations, colleges, universities, research funding bodies and institutes, primary care networks, and a patient advocacy group. The IHE Lay Advisory Committee was also involved in providing feedback on the patient information materials that accompany this guideline.
