Ambassador Guideline Adaptation and Development Program
Ambassador Program Events
6 – 7 February 2012
In February 2012, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) in partnership with the Institute of Health Economics (IHE) sponsored a two day meeting of content, administrative and research experts to identify the breadth of diagnostic imaging studies that CIHI might feasibly undertake with its data or with data that could be easily obtained. The purpose of this report is to summarize the meeting proceedings and the recommendations stemming from the discussion.
26 – 27 October 2010
As part of the Alberta Ambassador Guideline Adaptation Program, on October 26 & 27, 2010, the Institute of Health Economics (IHE) conducted an invitational workshop on the optimal use of diagnostic imaging (CT and MRI) based on the recommendations from the low back pain guideline.
The workshop brought together a broad spectrum of stakeholders from Alberta and other jurisdictions across Canada to:
- Review the available data on use of diagnostic imaging for low back pain;
- Develop an understanding of the barriers and facilitators of appropriate use of diagnostic imaging in primary care settings;
- Review the results of implementation science (Knowledge Translation) research related to implementing policy, professional and patient level interventions to align clinical practice with evidence-informed recommendations; and
- Develop a framework for a multi factorial knowledge translation program for diagnostic imaging in low back pain for primary care in Alberta.
