Jasmine Brown is the Director of Communications at the Institute of Health Economics (IHE). She is also a graduate student in pursuit of a PhD in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta, and research coordinator for a joint study between the University of Alberta and IHE examining ways in which to support maternal health and prevent Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) through use of new technology.
Prior to joining the Institute, she served as Principal Secretary and Policy Advisor to the late Honourable James M. Flaherty, former Federal Finance Minister, and advised him in his creation of two federal budgets. Her portfolio items included such files as natural resources, environment, industry, sales tax, tariffs, international trade and finance, and regional development. She also acted as Special Assistant to the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada. Furthermore, Jasmine has a history of political consulting and has acted as a political commentator on television.
Jasmine holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Trans Canada Trail.
